Johnson & Johnson Case

Training for the Global Change Management, Communication & Training Community

Strengthening behaviorally informed change management capabilities

Johnson & Johnson partnered with Neurofied to design and deliver a learning program for its Global Change Management, Communications & Training (CMC&T) community. This included change leaders, managers, and practitioners operating across many regions and functions. The goal was to strengthen their shared toolkit for leading complex change in a large, global organization. For an organization of this size (135,000+ people), this is a grand challenge.

We initially offered a variety of ad-hoc consulting and implementation services that could be requested by anyone in their CMC&T community as well as their change champions. They suggest a topic or challenge that is currently relevant for them and we select the relevant behavioral insights or interventions that they can leverage. Over time, we transitioned to a more consistent project approach where we productized the most relevant insights and interventions for easy consumption for everyone in their global change community.

Building on insights from behavioral science and neuroscience, the program was developed around the 18 evidence-based interventions described in our book The Dynamics of Business Behavior. These interventions were translated into a series of short, practical learning videos, each tailored to the real challenges faced by their Change Management, Communications & Training community.

The content focused on how people actually adopt, resist, and sustain change in complex systems. Participants explored topics such as uncertainty, stakeholder dynamics, habit formation, and behavioral barriers to implementation. By grounding the material in recognizable J&J scenarios, the program helped make behavioral insights directly applicable to day-to-day change work.

The result was a scalable, practical learning experience that strengthened the shared language, skills, and confidence of Johnson & Johnson’s global change community, supporting more consistent and effective behaviorally informed change management across the organization.

It was an honor to contribute behavioral science to the world-leading efforts of the global change community of Johnson & Johnson. We learned a lot in the process of seeing how they built and developed the internal change management organization at one of the largest organizations in the world.
